CU DIPS

Defense Innovation and Policy Student Group

What is DIPS?

The Defense Innovation and Policy Student Group strives to create a community for like-minded students to seek collaboration and support in topics concerning the U.S. military, Department of Defense support, Defense Innovation, policy and Federal Law Enforcement.

What do we do?

DIPS will have at least one monthly meeting that showcases a speaker from the defense / national security community and allow for a Q/A session with students. In addition, DIPS will also hold professional development events to tailor students’ LinkedIn accounts, resumes, and cover letters towards national security opportunities. DIPS will also hold events to showcase national security opportunities and possibly partner with on-campus organizations or courses such as ASV and D4D in addition to holding informal student mixers to foster a sense of community among students with shared interests. There may be opportunities in the future for trips to national security events, but none are currently planned.

Why do we do it?

National security and defense can be a very competitive and difficult industry to break into, especially if one has no formal ties to the industry. However, the industry is in constant need of innovators and creative thinkers to redefine how the DoD approaches challenges. We are looking to make DIPS the bridge that connects bright Buffs to those that seek problem solvers within the defense industry.

Who are we?

We are a collection of both Undergraduate and Graduate students from various educational, professional, and cultural backgrounds all sharing a common interest in Defense Innovation and Policy. All majors are welcome!
